Rolling Loud Roll Call: Retch

by .

For many, the first appearance of Retch (otherwise known as Retchy P) is on Action Bronson’s Blue Chips 2. Hailing from Hackensack, New Jersey, Retch recalls taking regular trips to visit family in Brooklyn. In saying that, Jay-Z being one of his top influences only makes sense. Another major influence of Retch is the Lo Life fashion movement that has been prevalent in New York for several decades, consisting of collecting and sporting rare Ralph Lauren gear. Hence the title of his debut solo effort, Polo Sporting Goods,  produced by Chicago producer-extraordinaire Thelonious Martin. Said project contains verses from the likes of Da$H (his childhood friend and other half of his group HeirGang), Action Bronson, and Ab-Soul. Along with Bronson, Da$H, and many other close associates of his, expect Retch to shut down Miami at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Domo Genesis

by .

As an original Odd Future member, known particularly for being the stoner of the crew, it does and doesn’t come to a shock that Domo Genesis has kept a relatively low profile. He doesn’t have music videos unless they’re for his group MellowHigh (Domo, Hodgy Beats, and Left Brain), he rarely does any press, and hardly appears on the Odd Future Adult Swim show Loiter Squad. However, to anyone that is familiar with his music, this is the norm. His style is inspired by Prodigy and Nas, of whom also have a tendency to stay under the radar. But like any Odd Future member, he is enterprising and focused, releasing a popular signature clothing series called “high” under the OF brand (as seen below). Beyond his work under MellowHigh, Domo has successfully broken out as a solo artist, releasing impressive bodies of work such as his debut mixtape Rolling PapersNo Idols with The Alchemist, and his Under The Influence mixtape series. Recently visiting Miami for Art Basel this past December for a few pop-up DJ sets, he makes a triumphant return to Vice City for Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Prez P

by .

Miami’s Prez P has come a long way, and he has remained humble in the process. Coming out of the notorious Miami Hip Hop collective known as Da Camp, Prez has had the support of his team to pursue a solo career, and he’s taken full advantage of it, from “305 Live” A3C performances to a great look on MTV Rapfix with Sway, Ab-Soul, and Raekwon. Prez remains loyal to his scene, collaborating heavily with fellow Miami artists Denzel Curry, J NICS, Lil Champ FWAY, Nell, Glocky Davis, and more. Speaking of collabs, Prez P has showcased his production palate by releasing single-producer EP’s such as 305º In The Sunshine with Young McFly and Carrera Music with Nuez. Fans can look forward to a number of projects dropping in 2015, as well as a live set at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Robb Bank$

by .

Robb Bank$ told XXL Magazine, “I don’t go to clubs and throw racks. I’m not even from Dade, I’m from Broward.” The 21-year-old rapper has been at the forefront of Florida’s Hip Hop circuit, clearly representing Broward County to the fullest extent. Robb obtained early success in his music career, mainly from a niche following on Tumblr and affiliations with Spaceghostpurrp and Raider Klan. Bank$ has been able to retain his spotlight, releasing his highly anticipated mixtape Tha City under his SS Records imprint, as well as an array of memorable guest verses, notably on Denzel Curry’s “Threatz” which to this day is one of the more impactful Florida rap records of the past few years. As of now, Robb is planning to release a collaborative EP with Memphis rapper Chris Travis called No Trespassing, as well as his debut album Year of the Savage. You can expect to see Robb and Chris Travis performing live at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Pouya

by .

Pouya: a young rapper who proclaims himself “Baby Bone”, obvious by his style of rhyming in double-time over downtempo beats. He joined forces with Robb Bank$, becoming an official artist on the SS (Smart Stunnas) imprint, releasing buzzing projects from his collaborative Gookin’ EP, with Cool Kids member Sir Michael Rocks, to his most recent full-length album entitled Stunna. You can also hear him right next to SGP on South Florida producer Nuri’s “The Void Mix [South Florida Edition]”. Along with other great national and local acts, Pouya can be found getting buck on stage rapping about macaroni, alongside his dynamic hypeman Fat Nick at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Casey Veggies

by .

The Boy is “seeing hella faces”, and it comes as no surprise. Since 2008, Casey Veggies has been steadily releasing music, investing in his brand, and collaborating with like minds. An LA native, Casey’s charisma and knack for street culture led him to co-founding the Odd Future collective, with songs produced by OF members including Tyler The Creator on his early recordings. That did not last forever, as him and his team (Josh Peas and Anwar Carrots of Peas & Carrots Intl) respectfully parted ways with OF to ultimately ink a management deal with Roc Nation shortly after his debut album Sleeping In Class, which was well-received on the internet. From then on, it was apparent that Casey Veggies would inherit some Life Changes, as he would truly become a part of an elite class of “Young Winners” in the rap game, signing a deal with Epic Records for his upcoming album Live and Grow. Singles like “The Boy” and “Backflip” (featuring YG and IAMSU!), are slated to be on this major release. Until that surfaces, you can experience Young Veggies live in concert at Rolling Loud Festival in Miami on February 28th.
