Rolling Loud Roll Call: Alex Wiley

by .

Alex Wiley is a 22-year-old Chi-town MC who has been steadily on the rise over the past year and a half after the release of his debut Village Party project, receiving accolades such as being named an Artist To Watch in 2014 by Chicago Magazine, a XXL Freshman nominee, and most recently an ‘Artist You Need To Listen To In 2015’ by Huffington Post. Wiley has not shown signs of slowing down. In fact, quite the contrary, as he recently took to twitter to announce his next mixtape (currently untitled) is dropping within 30 days. To prepare fans and those alike, he released a self-produced single called “Ready,” an ambient, downtempo, experimental record that shows signs of progression with the young up-and-coming rapper. Alex Wiley has also been able to take his talents well outside of his windy city comfort zone, headlining showcases at SXSW and A3C. He is due to hit Europe in April, but before he does, he will bless the stage in Miami at the inaugural Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Allan Kingdom

by .

Allan Kingdom is a name to watch as time progresses. The Canadian-born St. Paul, Minnesota resident has been on a roll, releasing an array of singles, including “Chosen” (featuring Pouya and Bobby Raps) and “Blast” (Produced by Plain Pat-of whom worked with Kid Cudi early on). His sound is highly unique, as he tends to experiment with more uptempo, dance-able beats, and it does not come off as unnatural. Together with internet sensation Spooky Black, Bobby Raps, and Psymun, they are “The Standard” and they are certainly making noise. Allan Kingdom’s 2014 full-length offering entitled Future Memoirs remains his current most acclaimed body of work, however his next album is already on the way. As he prepares for that, he will bless the stage in Miami for the first time at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Young Simmie

by .

Yung Simmie told XXL Magazine, “I want to be as big as Bob Marley, I want to touch people with my music like he did!”, and the 21-year-old former Raider Klan representative certainly has shown how serious he is at attaining that. His debut album Shut Up & Vibe 2 was released in July of last year via iTunes, and it features Robb Bank$, Denzel Curry, Pouya, Cashy and his former Raider boss SpaceGhostPurrp. Beyond that, he managed to get his name out through his memorable collaborations, including Denzel Curry’s hit single “Threatz”. While Simmie proceeds to give his all, fans can witness the rapper live at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Denzel Curry

by .

Denzel Curry is undoubtedly the most promising MC out of Miami. The 20-year-old Carol City native produced an enormous amount of buzz and critical acclaim surrounding his 2013 mixtape Nostalgic 64. With his Unkleluc-directed video for his single “Threatz” (featuring Robb Bank$ and Young Simmie) garnering several million views, a handful of insightful and in-depth interviews on top publications, and some serious roadrunning (touring with The Underachievers and Dillon Cooper and with Deniro Farrar), he has been quite the busy young rapper-snapper. And of course he was impossible to miss at Art Basel, as he performed several shows, including one with LA hardcore sensation and Odd Future Records signees Trash Talk. With that being said, him and his team have a strong vision for success, and the execution has been up to par to say the very least. With a double EP called 32 Zel / Planet Shrooms on the way, Denzel’s quest for greatness continues as he will embark on a legendary performance in his backyard of Wynwood at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th.

Rolling Loud Roll Call: Nik SB

by .

One of Miami’s most dynamic-yet-slept-on rappers is surely Nik SB, as he has become a crowd favorite in recent times. Just last year, he shared the stage in Miami not only with Rolling Loud’s headliner Action Bronson, but doing so with a straight jacket on and wearing no shoes (his reasoning is derived from slaves not being able to wear shoes). This is the type of unexpectancy you can expect with a character like Nik. For those unaware of his work, he released his Reparations EP with Miami upcoming super-producer Nuri, of whom is also set to produce his forthcoming Kolored EP. His association with Nuri is though the producer’s local creative collective and production company called Pro Club Ent. Along with that, Nik has managed to make other pivotal career moves. His visuals by Unkleluc, a heavily sought after visual artist and director, have been well-received by fans. As his EP release awaits, a highly memorable performance at Rolling Loud Festival on February 28th is certainly promising.
