Quietly working on some of his most creativity ambitious material, South Florida and Far Rockaway, Queens’ very own Griff Spex is not concerned with anything but making music that’s true to himself. The latest single of his called “Don’t Know” is exactly that. Produced by longtime friend and collaborator Nuez, “Don’t Know” is an intriguing showcase of Griff’s ability to blend infectious hooks with heady raps over some knocking production. His next project entitled Loops Of Our Labour on its way, but until then be sure to keep up with the now NYC-based rapper/producer.
As Florida’s underground rap scene continues to grow, we at CitrusRap continue to pursue new artist discovery. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Red the Ruler just dropped his 8 track EP “Bank” featuring his work with established producer Nuez (WifisFuneral, Robb Bank$). The collaboration between artist and producer creates signature sound throughout “Bank” which is fueled by modern trap, with a mix of late 90s and early 2000s Southern inspiration providing head nodding rhythm, raunchy lyrics and punchlines. The EP is full of melodic synths, heavy 808 bass drums and crisp snappy snares. Red The Ruler’s standout tracks “Bitch I’m back”, “Dollar Bill” and “Crazy” are definitely about his lifestyle all based on making boss moves in the game with Red’s bravado vividly descriptive on every track.
South Florida’s Nuez puts his production skills on display for his smooth, feel-good, new mixtape, False Exits, that dropped before the New Year. The mixtape is complete with 18-tracks that he produced himself, mashed with vocals from some of your favorite trap records from the past couple years and some oldies thrown in the mix. Let’s think back to four years ago, while an underground phenom and at the start of stardom with a cult like fan base, but with the resume to follow. Florida summers in 2016. The Nuez produced banger, “Sensational”, along side with “Crunch Time Freestyle” that made up the first installment of his highly acclaimed mixtape series, “Cloverfield”, is believed to be the spark that set his stone name permanently in the underground’s hall of fame.

Unkle Luc, now as prominent of a figure to rap culture as the man starring in this video. Always providing innovative effects and perfect visuals to a partner with the track.
