Reddot550 – Big Soulja (EP)

Rapper Reddot550 has just released his project Big Soulja on all streaming platforms. The 6-track EP was all produced by Reddot and has no features – He wanted his newly growing audience to experience his full on talent and prepare them for what’s to come, sonically. The Broward County native was born there but spent a lot of time, while growing up, going back and forth to ATL. You can distinctly hear both sounds in his music, Big Soulja is the best outcome of both. He speaks from experience “I talk a lot about guns drugs and money cause that’s all I was around growing up” Reddot expressed about the creative focus of his music.

My personal favorite track is “DATS WAT I LIKE” it already has close to 2k streams on SoundCloud since the EP’s release on Friday the 13th! Stay tuned for more to come from this promising up and comer.

Jack Spear- In My Eyes (Directed by Keaton Jones)

St. Louis based artist Jack Spear (Dorm Room Entertainment) is a new talent on the rise who just released his latest visual for his single “In My Eyes” (directed by Keaton Jones – produced by Alex Oren). “In My Eyes” is part of a collaboration project between Spear & Oren titled  “Songs to Play in the Dark”  set to be released soon, so stay tuned! It’s a collection of songs they worked on based on life in St. Louis, the way they view it and the people around it. Darker industrial locations were shown in the music video to show the “darker” side of St. Louis (showing the darker sides of the city to put a light on the city), you’ll notice as the video advances the focus is on light. “In My Eyes” is now on all streaming platforms!

I look forward to seeing Spear’s growth, Dorm Room Entertainment definitely has some interesting acts coming out of St. Louis. Click the YouTube link above to watch the music video for “In My Eyes.”

K.I.T.B – Kids In The Back (EP)

Gwinnett County natives K.I.T.B (FaceGod, SteezyD, Flash, Average Reed) released their debut project titled Kids In The Back. A 9-track EP where you can find production credits by Kid Nate, Sleepyxi, DIGGS, and Danny Phantom. I feel the project shows the potential these young men posses – it’s a window into the group’s life experiences from 2018-2019. What began as friendly competition in their friend SteedyD’s basement has now become something much more serious and this project solidifies that for them. A great start to what’s to come for their careers in music. “This project was more about feeding off each others energy to orchestrate songs that we enjoyed” expressed band member Average Reed about the recording process for Kids In The Back. Stay tuned for more to come from these promising up and comers!

90sitcom – Inner Fire & Vida Loca

Mesa, Arizona duo 90sitcom isn’t here to play- their two break-out singles “Inner Fire”and “Vida Loca” are a glimpse of what’s to come! The singles are worthy of having on repeat, all day. On “Inner Fire” (Prode. by Claine) we hear the telling of a love story and how they propel the artists inner fire, ha! The song sounds like a car ride at night with the windows down, or top down cruising through your city, just enjoying your time with bae. Has a Brazilian bossanova sound to it because of the beat’s sample.  On “Vida Loca” you get the spectrum of a “love” lost  – “been through some things yeah that’s just my vida loca.” Lo-Fi fans will eat this beat up. You can find their music on all streaming platforms! For now, click the SoundCloud links to become a fan!

Optimystical – Void Of [EP]

Reigning from Phoenix, Arizona, the unique 5-piece group Optimystical (Pianist Cara Nassar, Bassist J.J. Tusick, Frontman Keynan Willis, Drummer and Producer Lyle Begiebing) are a band to keep track on in 2020. All band members come from entirely different backgrounds, each providing a different flair – meshing well together. They have just released their sophomore EP titled “Void Of” on 2/29/2020 (all produced by Lyle Begiebing as @thepartyupstairs). They released their lead single “All types of Love” on Valentine’s Day.

“Smile and Wave,” their first project released in 2018, received a warm reception – it was the confirmation they needed that they’re on the right track. They decided to take a different approach to their sophomore EP “Void Of,” from the tone of the tracks to the recording process. “On the second EP “Void Of”, the band reached into the deep vault of unfinished tracks and chose 5 songs that were written first with piano/synth loops as opposed to guitar, opting for more experimental and emotional tones with “big, singing from the rooftop” feelings” Drummer/Producer Lyle Begiebing expressed about the creative process for “Void Of.”

Their music is truly enjoyable, they incorporate beautiful melodies and vocals along with their Emcee frontman’s rap skills. A style of music (Hip-Hop infused with indie music) we haven’t heard come together so well in a while. I am excited to see what’s to come for Optimystical in 2020 and beyond! I highly encourage you to kick back and take a listen to this sonically infused masterpiece.
