Some may call it Punk Rap. Others may call it Trap Rock. Whatever words that you use to define it as, nothing compares to experiencing this phenomenon live. Director, Christy Trabada, recently took a deep dive into South Florida’s rap underground to give us an exclusive origin story of this generation’s most groundbreaking sub-genre. Full of teenage angst, nihilism, unfiltered emotion and global branding. Noteable acts such as XXXTentacion, Pouya & Fat NickDenzel Curry and Lil Pump. Only to name a few. South Florida has been throwing a tantrum in front of the music industry, in the best way possible. With their raw music, unique visual presentations and branding, alongside the power of the internet, South Florida has transformed into the safe haven for musical rebels and all alike. Watch and witness these in depth, sit-down discussions with talents such as DannyBoyStyles, Jimmy Duval, JK The Reaper, FXRBES, Lofty305 & many more that are a part of this new found culture, as they detail the tribulations that they face while making this authentic wave and as they prove why this movement has been able to hold the world’s eyes and ears on them for such a long time.

Phat June – New Year Freestyle (ft. Loudpack KAP & Ruben Slikk)

by .

UPCOMING PROJECT: Bankroll Shawty | Release TBA

Phat June makes his way back to CitrusRap in great fashion, as he drops off his “New Year Freestyle”. Pure audio dope, laced with two of Florida’s big dawg’s of the underground Loudpack KAP & Ruben Slikk. The trio use all of their own unique flows and word play abilities to give us, what we believe will be an underground smash hit. Phat June is letting it be known that even with a freestyle, he is not playing in 2018 and coming through with nothing but home run hits. That’s great news, right along with Phat June’s upcoming project, Bankroll Shawty, on the way soon.

LIL HEARTTHROB – Speed Dial (Prod. Mankar)

by .

PRODUCER: Mankar

The multi-talented Nasty Noona aka LIL HEARTTHROB has been buzzing in our ears since she first hit the music scene last month with her undeniable hit, “Ride Or Die”. It seems as if Florida’s next leading fashion designer has made it a mission to not only take over this age’s style, but to hijack their headphones and stereos with her newest and even more saucy track, “Speed Dial”. Produced by MankarLIL HEARTTHROB uses her soft and sensual voice to give off a rather strong message on this track. Letting it be known that she is not with the bulls**t and if there is smoke, she can turn the world on it’s head with just one call. Even as tough as the lyrics are, her flow and voice, accompanied by the beat, makes it nearly impossible to not do the Lil Uzi shoulder roll. Those elements combined makes for a banger. Hopefully there’s more LIL HEARTTHROB coming in the near future.

But until then, make sure to check out this heat and to catch her performing live alongside Theo, Young Garzi, Til Death and many more. Wednesday January 17th in Orlando at Uncle Lou’s. Flyer below:

Sylvan LaCue – Apologies In Advance (Short Film/Album)

by .

STREAM ALBUM: Apologies In Advance | via WiseUp

We went from being astonished by the short film to being surprised with an early listen by the man himself. But we are happy to say that the wait is finally over! Sylvan LaCue’s latest prized possession has hit the net. After a long search for self while being forced to start from the ground up when his laptop and studio equipment were lost, Sylvan LaCue’s soon to be critically acclaimed album, Apologies In Advance, was one of the 2017’s most anticipated album releases throughout the music world and it is finally here.

The Miami native recently defined the album as this:

“Apologies in Advance is a concept album surrounded around the idea of an AA meeting but for emotions. Each song on the album represents an emotion to confront. AA = Apologies in Advance. My goal for this album is to get as many of us to start opening up & talking about some of the issues that we deal with on a day to day basis in an effort to heal.”

A 20 track audio experience, that astral projects you right into a seat at this extraordinary and appropriate AA meeting. Sylvan LaCue has created something more than an album. But a therapy session for his audience. One that they may have not even been aware that they needed. If Apologies In Advance is even a small a portion of what’s to come in 2018, we at CitrusRap know that this year will be one of the best of all time in Florida.

Check out the short film accompanying the album and take a listen to Apologies In Advance. Then thank Sylvan LaCue later.
