#WCW: Tampa’s Renaissance Woman, IamDoechii

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s Women’s Crush Wednesday! Here at CitrusRap, we are always showing love to the amazing hard-working ladies in South Florida. Since there are so many influential women who are constantly grinding, we decided to highlight their extraordinary contributions to their community, weekly.

Tampa’s IamDoechii is an anomaly or maybe perhaps an unicorn because she’s unlike any other. Her latest project, “Oh The Places You’ll Go” is an incredible and unhinged introduction to the artist’s life and artistry. Simply a twisted fairytale book that’s introspective and adventurous. It is truly a theatrical listening experience from start to finish. Her rhymes are at times poignant and daring, that can contend with any veteran emcee of today. Songs like “Yucky Blucky Fruit Cake” and “Black Girl Memoir shows her versatility as a rapper and vocalist who’s able to mend together captivating lyrics and memorable songwriting. She takes us through a vivid journey through her past memories that shaped who she is today. From being an outcast throughout grade school to her growing adolescent years, “Oh The Places You’ll Go” is an immersive experience.

The Tampa songstress grew up doing performance art in middle school and high school which eventually lead her into discovering her own artistry. She first popped into scene with her breakout single “El Chapo” back in 2016. IN addition, debuting her first single lead Doechii into gaining a loyal fanbase. Not to mention how her friend Taylor Moon, gave her a moment of enlightenment by showing she can record her own music without having the need of record labels. I speak for all of us to say thank GOD for Taylor Moon.
