IMG_0285Tell us about yourself.

Milli Misa in this bitch. I’m 20 something and sassy.

How and at what age did you get into art?

Since birth I knew what my color scheme was. I’ve always enjoyed art, in class, at home, everything I did had to involve arts n crafts.

What is your favorite medium?

Hmm. That’s hard. I honestly don’t have a “favorite” but, I really love acrylic. Pen sketches are my favorite too.

FullSizeRender(2)Before you get your creative juices flowing, what do you do before you start a piece?

Definitely put on some good music on, burn some incense. Pick out the colors I’m going to use on the piece, it’s like meditating.

Which artist, album or single are you currently listening to at the moment?

Tame Impala’s Currents, Archy Marshall’s A new Place 2 Drown, and anything jazz.

As a visual artist, what do you look for in a muse?

Mainly the way this person/object makes me feel. Color as well. Geometric shapes are shown in a lot throughout your work, is this your signature or is their meaning behind it? It’s a staple signature for this time period in my life. It might stay, it might go.

FullSizeRender (2)Share some of your goals that you have in life when it comes to your art.

In the future I would to create sculptures for parks, or cities. I just want to travel with my art. Direct films, music videos, and creative direct photoshoots. I just want to be creative forever.

What projects have you worked on as a Creative Director?

I’ve helped out with some photoshoots, shot some of my own, created a couple of Snapchat short films. Also, working on a short film, and some other secret things!

At Cinq, you showcased your recent installation “Lust Yourself” and it was amazing. What was the concept behind it?

Thank you! I wanted to show another aspect of art that I love doing, which is the art of tying someone up. I perform a live demonstration of me tying up my art piece, which is really technically a piece of me. “Lust Yourself” is really feeling yourself, like desire you and your self being.

photo-15Colori Alterati is your hand painted art clothing line which is pretty dope. Are you planning to re-release some more clothing pieces from it soon?

Yes! Actually working on a website for it at the moment so I can handle business a little better. About 8 months ago, I stopped labeling my clothing line under Colori Alterati, and rebranded to my artist name MilliMisa.

If you had collaborate with any artist art wise, who would it be and why?

Oh man, probably Anny Wang. I LOVE her use of color, and space. She does a lot of 3D digital art which is something I’m really interested in learning. Also Winn Smith, I could definitely see us collaborating.

Milli1As an artist, what do you struggle with the most when it comes to your art work?

Consistency, to be honest. I feel like I put a lot of emotion into each piece of art I do. So when I put out a couple new art I feel like it takes a lot out of me. So I like to take breaks to gather myself mentally. I’m constantly sketching ideas, and writing down ideas for art shows though. Always busy in the brain.

What would you be if you weren’t doing this?

Sad.

For every artist out there who’s trying to break out into the art scene, what would you tell them?

Do it because you love it.

Lyrica Jada – Interrogation Room

PRODUCER: TheRealVspence x Lyrica Jada
LATEST PROJECT: Aquarius Season

Twenty-one-year-old singer and songwriter Lyrica Jada is becoming a voice of logic for the ladies, bringing back passionate R&B music with the confidence in her vocals and feminine songwriting. Since her collaboration with Caleb Kai on Southville Parrish, I knew she would be an artist to look out for considering her spectacular performance on the standout tracks “Between Lovers” and “Adult Swim”. Once again, Jada provides listeners with a soundtrack for those late night feelings with “Interrogation Room”, the last installment to her 3-track EP Aquarius Season. With assistance from TheRealVspence on the production, she lends her sensual voice filled with desire to the beat, as she questions the stability of her relationship and the loyalty of her lover. Between missed calls, keeping secrets, and shady behavior, the Miami songstress goes through all of it in this track to make sure the love is real.
