Interview: Florida’s Natural with Mobsquad Nard

Florida's Natural

As many local fans are aware, Florida has one of the most overlooked Hip Hop circuits, not only in the region, but the entire country. While it can be tough for local creatives to break out from the scene, Citrus Rap makes strides to continue to uplift the Floridians who are on their way up. Said creatives, seen all over CitrusRap, can be found making moves statewide— some even venturing out of state. Still there are several unanswered questions for these rising stars, so we went ahead and formulated a questionnaire to clear the air. This is a new interview series we call “Florida’s Natural,” so that fans can gain insight on the individuals who we believe have the juice.

NARD-CMG-5600

List your current Alias(es):

Nard, Nardo Davinci, MobSquad Nard.

Where do you reside; what’s your hometown?

I’m outta Jack-Town, Florida; Duval County.

Why do you rap?

I rap for the fam and for the profit.

What’s your views on the local scene in your city?

All I do is grind.  Locally, Duval got potential.  It’s so polluted out here though.

How old are you now and how old were you when you first released your music on the internet?

I’m 25 and I started dropped songs on Myspace when i was 15.

What 3 albums of 3 different genres shaped you as an artist?

7 Day Theory by Tupac, Ghetto Love by Jaheim, and Word of Mouf by Ludacris.

What do you bring to the live stage setting that captivates crowds?

Being authentic and being real.  The crowd admires the vibe on top of the talent.

How do you portray your personality in your music?

On some super hero type shit. Just coming from my city trying to make it to the sky.  I bring out my insight on the streets in my song like when I say, “if I’m dreaming don’t wake me up, if I’m copping don’t shake me up.” I know better than to fall for the shake bag, feel me?

Do you care about social media?

Yeah, social media is a contribution to my development so I care about it promotion wise. It doesn’t play a big part of my grind, though.

Is it ever difficult to express yourself?

Never.

What song describes your current mood?

Right now, “Ya Heard Me” by Soulja Slim.

What is your next big release and when can we expect it?

I just dropped Everything Clean But Da Ashtray, and you can get that on iTunes right now.

Anything else to add?

God first.  But yeah man, MobSquad Nard; I’m dead ol’ school but definitely not outdated. I’m solid with a real cold style, for real. I believe in the code wholeheartedly, gold heartedly. It’s that for real with me, I’m a good person to follow.
