Interview: CLRBLND

We had the chance to chop it up with producer/artist CLRBLND based out of Orlando, Florida. Read about his early upbringing, music influences, future goals, and much more. Check out his latest releases as well and follow him on twitter/instagram @Prodbyclrblnd.

Who is CLRBLND and where are you from?

CLRBLND is a movement, a lifestyle, and the ability to overcome. No colors(outsiders) can take me out my spot because one day I will be somebody, Maybe one of the greatest.

I’m from Atlanta, the NAWF…like where the Migos are from.

What was your early childhood like? How did that play into music?

I was always into sports, I didn’t really get into making music until like 2016. I thought I was supposed to play college football, went to a few camps, got a few big offers without playing varsity but had 2 spine surgeries and a fractured. I was always into music because of my parents, and my uncle. My dad is from Long Beach/Compton, so I got a lot of West Coast influences from him. My mom put me on too a lot of R&B and Soul. And my uncle put me on too a lot of southern music like Outkast, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross.

So you’ve gone by multiple artist/producer names. Why is that? Do you think CLRBLND is your last stage name?

Bruh mainly because I didn’t know who I was or what my creative purpose was. But now, I know exactly what I’m supposed to be doing, so I got a think board which I write all my daily goals on. And yea bro, this is for sure the last one. It just feels right and different this time around.

Do you like producing or recording? Do you see yourself doing both or maybe in the future?

I like both, but I love producing, I like building an open canvas that allows the artist to be them and lay the finishing touches after I deliver them the foundation. I’m on my Kanye shit. If I get big enough as a producer then I will most likely star recording again but for now, I got to perfect this shit and build my brand up.

Being from Central Florida, how does that play a part into your artistry?

Honestly bro, it really doesn’t because I’m not from here, I’m from Atlanta, so that’s where my influences come from. I get major love from Toronto and LA as well. I don’t really get any love or support from Florida except for the artists that I work with.

Who are some major influences that still shape your music today?

Travis Scott, Kanye, Kid Cudi, Bizness Boi, Supah Mario, Drake, Wheezy, Metro, Mike Will, FKI 1st, Sonny Digital, Southside, TM88, Partynextdoor and Thugger.

As we closed out 2018, what was your biggest accomplishment? What do you look to achieve in 2019?

I have a few actually bro, worked with a lot of producers on Partynextdoor new album, and began to finally make a name for myself as the sample/melody maker for a lot of producers I fuck with. Finding a niche as an upcoming creative is very important.

Some artists like to collab a lot, some don’t. Do you prefer solo work more or connecting with multiple artists?

Collaboration is key, there is plenty of room for everyone to eat. Bouncing ideas off of each other and getting feedback is better than trying to do everything on your own. Plus bro, using social media to network has been so instrumental to my progress, I’m learning to just chill and keep my head down and work without announcing all my moves and blocking my blessings.

What can we expect from CLRBLND in 2019?

Signing a production deal with a big producer which is already in the works…not saying anything yet. And plenty of placements. Building the soundtrack for Orlando and getting me a plaque with a Grammy nomination and #1 billboard record.

Any last words or shoutouts? Thank you again for the interview!

You’ll see me as one of the biggest producers this year, just watch. Thanks for having me bro.
