Soulful rap. Two words too describe Virginia rapper/vocalist D.R.A.M.

His electrifying single “ Cha Cha” has caught the attention of artist like Beyonce and Travi$ Scott, but has had music bloggers like me thinking D.R.A.M. is a breathe of fresh air to rap since dropping his project #1EpicEP

D.R.A.M.’s ability to not only rap, but pour vocals over tracks gives him an authentic jazzy sound. After listening to his single “Cha Cha” which is by the way on the radio now, I had to follow up on this guy. D.R.A.M.’s original version of #1EpicEP caught me and hooked me with singles such as “Mind Gone” and “Cuchadoe” with witty beats and just the right amount of his Virginia influence on each track.  “Cuchadoe” even samples the Rugrats theme song, which is pure genius.

Then D.R.A.M. shows his versatility with singles like “Get Money” which uses the classic Junior M.A.F.I. A. original beat while he sings over the beat for half of the song. D.R.A.M. does the same on singles “Never Again” and “Caretaker,” which was featured on Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment project SurfD.R.A.M. has the ability to not only come up with a catchy flow, but you can hear and feel his emotion in each song, as if it’s almost Blues.

Just play “Cha Cha” at any party and find one person who is not saying, “ I like to Cha Cha! With a Dominican that resembles Taina (another Nickelodeon reference),” by the time the song ends.

D.R.A.M. will be on Chance the Rapper’s Family Matters Tour with Save Money’s artist Towkio, and producer Metro Boomin on the DJ set.  Check out the Florida dates below, as well as the full tour schedule.
