Cal Rips – District of Corruption [Mixtape]

Cal Rips is back with a personal new project titled District of Corruption. It’s a six-track EP that delves into the mind and struggles of Cal, from the unfortunate passing of his mother and brother to the everyday hardships of growing up in the district. It holds feature verses from Matt McGhee and Miles Meraki, as well as some nice vocals from rising crooner Beya Likhari on the outro. Eric the Rager, Clayt Da Great, Matt McGhee & Steve Dreez handle the production on the release. All in all it’s a cohesive project that displays Cal‘s intricately written rhymes and storytelling ability.

With the saddening news of Chinx‘s murder impacting the Hip-Hop world this weekend and the passing of Lil Snupe last year, Meek Mill, Travi$ Scott and Strap pay tribute with a new track titled “Miss My Dawgs.” The two rappers were taken away too early and it’s a shame they had to go the way that they did. Meek Mill‘s sophomore album Dreams Worth More Than Money is on its way which fans can expect later this year.

After dropping their first official project Season earlier this year, Leather Corduroys is back with their new banger “Have U Eva”. Leather Corduroys, a rap duo inclusive of Kami and Joey Purp, have enlisted fellow Save Money rapper Vic Mensa for this record. The three Chicago MCs team up rapping ferociously over the hypnotizing beat, produced by Ikaz Boi, Myth Syzer, Peter Cottontale, and Knox Fortune, creating a sinister trap banger to heat up the summer. Nearly four minutes long, each rapper spits some pretty dark and grimy verses, boldly discussing drugs, near-death experiences, and their frisky lifestyles. Whether performed live or not, this track deserves a mosh pit, crowd surfing, and endless head banging. With no word on what’s next for Leather Corduroys this record is sure to keep us entertained in the meantime, so put the volume on max and turn up!

Vandam won’t be stopping there as he plans to follow up his mixtape with a brand new EP on his birthday, July 12th, which will be titled #MMTVS2 (My MohTuhVayShun). On the mixtape, you can expect the Florida rapper to deliver the real gudda, street music with no filter that the streets have been asking for while on the EP, you can expect more of an album vibe, with a mixture of everything on it.
